The Sierra Wireless AirLink RV55 is a rugged LTE-A Pro cellular router that is compact and tough. With ultra-lower power consumption, it is ideal for solar or battery-powered installations. It is typically used in energy, utilities, smart city, and public safety where it can provide real-time remote connectivity for SCADA, distribution management systems, and metering applications.
From a communications standpoint, the RV55 is available with either LTE-Advanced Pro for high-performance WWAN connectivity (up to 600 Mbps downlink) or LTE-M/NB-IoT for locations with hard-to-reach conditions. The RV55 has 10/100/1000 Ethernet (RJ-45), RS-232/Serial (DB-9), and USB 2.0 (Micro-B) interfaces. RV55 LTE-A Pro users can utilize the RV55s Wi-Fi and GNSS (satellite navigation) features (these are not available with the LTE-M/NB-IoT version).
Like the Sierra Wireless AirLink RV50 / RV50X Rugged LTE-A Gateways, the RV55 is designed to withstand harsh environments and is certified Class 1 Div 2 with an IP64 rating, and is tested to meet and exceed MIL-STD-810G.
From a device management perspective, the RV55 can be used with AirLink remote cloud-based or on-premises management solutions (ALMS and AM/AMM).
